Can dogs eat turkey

Dogs can eat turkey, but they need to be careful about moderation and proper feeding practices. Turkey meat is a high-quality source of protein and is rich in nutrients such as vitamin B complex, niacin, zinc, iron and selenium, which are beneficial for your dog's health.

Turkey meat is high in fat, and overconsumption may lead to digestive problems in dogs, such as pancreatitis or gastrointestinal distress. The safest way to feed your dog turkey is to offer unseasoned, cooked white meat that is free of bones and skin.

Never eat raw turkey meat, cook at an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit, cut slices into bite-sized pieces for your dog, and avoid feeding processed meat or foods that contain flavorings.

Turkey bones are not recommended as they may pose a risk of choking, esophageal foreign bodies and constipation.

Turkey meat can be part of your dog's diet, but should not be used as a staple. Occasional feeding of moderate amounts of turkey meat can enrich a dog's diet and provide additional nutrition, but it should be used in conjunction with other high-quality, well-balanced foods to meet a dog's overall nutritional needs.
